The Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi would launch a Statewide agitation on September 12 in support of its three-point charter of demands, said Thol. Thirumavalavan, party leader.
He came to Cuddalore court in connection with a case pertaining to deliverance of objectionable public speech filed against him in the Judicial Magistrate Court-II here on Tuesday.
He told presspersons that the VCK would not accept the stand of the Centre that the Katchtheevu could not be got back.
By all means the islet must be retrieved.
He said that the U.S. and Canada were alleging human rights violations in Sri Lanka in the Mahinda Rajapaksa regime. Therefore, Sri Lanka should not be allowed to form part of the Commonwealth Heads of Government.
Mr. Thirumavalavan further said that the Centre should get back the power to have control over the prices of petroleum products.
After serving the charge-sheet on him Judicial Magistrate Thirumagal adjourned the case to September 24.
